Welcome Dinners are simple in concept but actually require a lot of time, energy and resources to happen.
Our team does their best work when they can give each Welcome Dinner enough time and attention. Each Home Welcome Dinner takes approximately 25 hours to plan and each Community Welcome Dinner takes over 50 hours to plan. This includes countless meetings, phone calls, emails and text messages to help all community members overcome barriers to attending.
Although our national team of nearly 500 volunteers contributes enormous time and energy, we need National and State Coordinators in paid roles to oversee everything, train our volunteers and ensure the consistent quality and safety of our events. This is where most of our costs occur, although there is also the administrative costs of insurances, website and database management, just to name a few.

Giving a recurring weekly or monthly donation helps us cover important running costs like training and overseeing the work of our staff members in each State, ensuring payroll is accurate and on time, maintaining our website and database, and running training and ongoing professional development for our volunteer facilitators and dinner coordinators.
This means we can spend more time creating a better quality experience for guests through more intimate and carefully planned dinners. This results in more dinner guests being connected and forming stronger relationships, like the ones talked about by Fhon and others in the below video.
