Board of Directors – Secretary

Position Description

Secretary: The Secretary’s role involves coordination of Board meetings (including meeting invites and the agenda), documentation of Board meeting minutes, and monitoring of Board action plans.

About The Organisation

Joiningthedots international runs the Welcome Dinner Project.  The Welcome Dinner Project enables recently arrived people (such as refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and international students) and established Australians to meet over a shared meal at a participant’s residence.  These pot-luck style dinners create a platform for meaningful connection, sparking friendships between people of diverse cultures and encouraging local collaborative endeavours.  After starting in Sydney in 2013, over 400 Welcome Dinners have now been held in all capital and several regional cities in Australia.

Selection Criteria

In this role, excellent organisational and time management skills are considered an asset.
Experience in a similar role – particularly with respect to minute taking – would be desirable.

Time commitment
All Committee members are expected to attend the bi-monthly Board meetings, sometimes held with more frequency.  With existing Board members in Sydney, Canberra and Perth the meetings are attended via teleconference.  The duration of each Board meeting is approximately 1.5 hours.

Time commitment for Board specific roles varies according to the level of activity specific for that role.
